Habarana was our base in the “Cultural Triangle”. From here we visited some of the major archaeological sites of central Sri Lanka, took a game drive in Minneriya National Park and rode on an elephant along the banks of the lake.
In the mountainous central province of Sri Lanka is Kandy, the old capital city, and a little further south, Nuwara Elliya Distict where tea plantations cover the hills.
In the south lies the Ude Walawe National Park, where we camped and saw a huge variety of wildlife. On the coast is Galle where we spent the last few days before returning home.
This is a selction of the wildlife seen during our tour of Sri Lanka. All the photographs you see here are taken in the wild, either on safari drives in the National Parks or simply out and about around the island.
